“Yoga is an internal practice. The rest is just circus.”
Sri K. Pattabhi Jois
Chandra Yoga Shala is a community-based yoga studio located in Toronto’s west end. Wholly inclusive, at Chandra we believe that the yoga practice is accessible by all bodies, ages and walks of life. We believe in the transformative power of the yoga practice, and endorse notions of self-discovery, empowerment and growth through Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Restorative, and Pre/Postnatal styles of yoga. We built our Shala from a place of love and gratitude, and strive to embed the Yamas and Niyamas within our culture and framework. Chandra Yoga Shala is a space where you can suspend unwanted noise, make peace with what has been and what is, find fulfillment in the present, find beauty in stillness and in silence, discover new possibilities and reconnect with yourself. Our doors are open to everyone including black, indigenous, and people of colour, big bodies, small bodies, and LGBT+. Chandra Yoga Shala is your practice space.
Why Practice Yoga?
Mental clarity & Emotional Healing
Creating a ritual to observe your thoughts & emotions can help calm your nervous system and relieve stress. Developing a yoga practice is a great way to schedule time for personal development. As we continue to acknowledge the importance of self-care, we can recognize the benefits of a regular spiritual, physical, emotional and mental “reset” or “check-in”.
Not only does yoga help us to develop flexibility, but also strength, stamina and mobility. A regular yoga practice can also relieve pain and built-up tension in the body. With so many styles of yoga to discover, you’re sure to discover the one that works for you.
Practice alongside like-minded neighbours and hold yourself accountable to your practice. Our community at Chandra is supportive, inclusive and encouraging!
